ISRAEL RADIO

HERITAGE NETWORK LAUNCHES ON 88.5 FM in
Jerusalem, Haifa and Beer Sheba and 104.8 in Tel Aviv
At 1900 on August 15 the IBA launched its latest radio
station called Reshet Moreshet - which translates as Heritage Network
and comprises programming with a religious theme. The station takes over and
extends some existing Kol Israel religious programs that were broadcast for
three hours per day on other networks including the popular weekly biblical
commentary by Rabbi Moti Alon on the portion of the Torah being read in the
Synagogue.
A section of the Israeli public has demonstrated a
desire for a radio station whose programming reflects the values of orthodox
Judaism and the IBA is responding to this. The station is heard on 88.5 FM and
covers the Central region of the country, but a further four transmitters are to
be added on the same frequency.
Initially broadcasting is for 5 hours per day but this
will be extended to 17 in the coming months - at other times the frequency
carries Reshet Bet.
The Editor of the Heritage Network is Avraham Vizner.
